Fig ‘LSU Gold’ – Sweet Golden Fruit for Southern Gardens
Fig ‘LSU Gold’ is a productive, easy-to-grow fig selected by the Louisiana State University fig breeding program. This vigorous variety produces large yellow-to-gold fruit with light red to pink flesh and a sweet, honeyed flavor. It is especially well suited to warm, humid Southern gardens, making it a great choice for edible landscapes, home orchards, and large patio containers.
Plants grow best in full sun with well-drained soil and average moisture. ‘LSU Gold’ is self-fertile, so only one plant is needed for fruit production. Mature trees can become sizeable in the landscape, but they can also be pruned to maintain a more manageable shape for smaller gardens or container growing.
Mature Size: 8–15 feet tall and 8–10 feet wide
USDA Zones: 7–10; best performance in warmer zones

Pollination: Self-fertile
Fruit: Large yellow-to-gold figs with light red to pink flesh
