About Us

Three Shovels Farm is a small family-owned nursery located in St. Matthews, SC, approximately halfway between Columbia and Orangeburg. Our owner is a life-long gardener who has grown daylilies, iris and other companion plants for over 40 years.  Our nursery is the result of a hobby that quite literally grew out of control, but we thoroughly enjoy the challenge! Today we grow over 2,000 varieties of daylilies, including diploids and tetraploids of all sizes and colors representing early, mid, and late-season varieties in all daylily forms.  We also grow nearly 500 Louisiana iris, and 350 Japanese iris - and like all plant fanatics, we're constantly adding to our collection. We welcome online and in-person visitors and are happy to share our gardens and knowledge about these easy to grow plants.
