Dionaea ‘Cupped Trap’ – A Curious Cup-Shaped Venus Flytrap

Dionaea ‘Cupped Trap’ is a fun and unusual Venus flytrap cultivar with traps that are fused at the far end, creating a distinctive cupped or bowl-like shape. Its quirky form makes it a standout choice for collectors and a great conversation plant for anyone who enjoys the weirder side of carnivorous plants.

Despite its unusual appearance, ‘Cupped Trap’ still catches insects like a typical Venus flytrap. Grow in full sun with consistently moist, low-nutrient carnivorous plant soil. Use only rainwater, distilled water, or reverse-osmosis water, and avoid fertilizer or standard potting mixes.

🪴 Shipped in: 3.5-inch wide × 5-inch tall pot (unless customer state regulations require bare-root shipping)
📏 Plant Size at Maturity: Rosette up to 5 inches wide
☀️ Light: Full sun required for best color (6+ hours/day)
💧 Water: Only use distilled, rain, or reverse osmosis water; keep soil constantly moist
🌱 Soil: Nutrient-poor medium (such as peat moss and perlite)
🌡️ Hardiness: USDA Zones 7–10 outdoors; can be grown indoors with adequate light

This plant is nursery-propagated and grown—not wild-collected. Photos are representative of the plant you will receive; individual variation is natural unless otherwise noted.

⚠️ Dormancy Notice:
Venus flytraps naturally go dormant from October to March. During dormancy, the plant’s growth slows and older leaves may die back. This is a normal and essential part of the life cycle.
