Colocasia ‘Fontanesii’ – Black Stem Elephant Ear

Colocasia ‘Fontanesii’ is a big, bold elephant ear with glossy green, heart-shaped leaves held high on dramatic purple-black stems. Fast-growing and impressively tall, it creates an instant tropical look in the garden, around ponds, or in large containers.

One of its most unusual features comes later in the season, when mature plants may produce large yellow aroid flowers with a sweet, tropical fragrance—a bonus you don’t find on many elephant ears.

Give it plenty of warmth, water, and rich soil and ‘Fontanesii’ can quickly become a spectacular garden centerpiece.
