Plant Sizes

Bare root plants are plants that are shipped without soil around their roots. We freshly dig and wash your plants to remove all soil. This is important to limit transmission of many weeds, weed seeds, and pests. Your plants will have trimmed foliage to prevent moisture loss during transit; some roots may have been trimmed.

When ordering potted plants from our nursery, it’s helpful to understand the different container sizes we use for shipping. We offer a range of sizes to accommodate various plant types and growth stages. Our smallest containers are the 2-inch and 3-inch pots, which are commonly used for smaller-growing carnivorous plants such as sundews and Venus flytraps. These sizes are ideal for young plants or those with compact root systems, making them easy to ship while ensuring they arrive in excellent condition. Next, we offer the 4.5-inch deep pot, which provides extra depth for plants that benefit from more root space, promoting healthier establishment upon transplanting.

For larger or more mature plants, we ship in 4-quart and 6-quart containers. The 4-quart size is excellent for well-rooted plants that are ready to make an impact in your garden quickly, while the 6-quart size accommodates even more robust root systems and larger foliage. These sizes ensure that your plants arrive strong and ready to thrive. To give you a better idea of scale, we’ve included a reference photo with a Pepsi can for comparison.
